The Biology course is a requirement for graduation in Visalia Unified School District. The course also fulfills University of California requirements for a laboratory science. At El Diamante, the majority of sophomores are enrolled in Biology as their science course.

Though I have not taught biology in a number of years, my degree is in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The content comes easily to me, and in many ways I am better qualified to teach this than chemistry. I greatly enjoy this subject, so PLEASE ask questions in class, and take advantage of my office hours if you find yourself needing help!

Biology resources will be added as the year progresses, so this is very much a work in progress. I was given this course less than a week before the beginning of this school year, so I will be developing many of the materials for the course as we go, and adding them here. You can access a current Biology Course Calendar. I will post web versions of my PowerPoint presentations, which can be viewed as web pages within your browser. I will also develop my own Interactive Practice Activities to help students prepare for important benchmarks and tests. The labs posted here are the work of my colleagues Jim Billingsley and Lonnie Miller, to whom I extend both the credit and my gratitude.

Students and parents can access grades using my Online Grade Database. The grade database will reflect the scores on all completed assignments. I update the database weekly.

Parents and students can subscribe to my Biology Email listserve. I will be using the list to inform you when I update the grade book as well as to alert you to important upcoming assignments and deadlines.

Unless you are a student of mine, or a parent of one of my students, please do not contact me for assistance - I do not have time to correspond, and all of the resources that I am willing to share are already available here. Students and parents may most easily contact me at my home email address.
